I can't believe the last few days. I saw people that I know with memories that they didn't have or their bodies changed. I didn't change much, but I did jump every time I saw a bird fly over. I would have like to seen how this happened. Was it an accident or was it on purpose? Could it be recreated? I'll be in the library looking up similar spells tonight. If I don't find any books there, I will just have to order them in.

I have kept my word with regards to there being no homework on the first day of class. It is now the second. If you are taking Transfiguration with me, you should refer to your syllabus for your next assignment. Consider this a friendly reminder that you are to complete the next three days' assignments without the use of your textbook. No exceptions.

[ Why yes, she is looking forward to gaping mouths and indignant questions about why she spent more than half of class yesterday stressing the importance of the textbooks she bought out of pocket and gave to each student taking her class her first day in. She's also decidedly looking forward to more than that.

Any early bird who looked at the syllabus and was in the process of doing his or her transfiguration homework early or churning out some sort of essay to impress their new teacher? Your book just came to life if it was open or in the process of being opened and it most assuredly will come to life if it is opened henceforth. It just grew hard paper teeth with needle-like fangs that somehow feel like needles and carry the unfortunate side effect of that pesky, unpleasant prickly feeling associated with numbness that will last for, oh, a grand total of three to five minutes. You know what else? It's going to go for your hands and, if you give it the opportunity, it'll go for your arms. If you were unlucky enough to get one with a particularly terrible 'personality,' it may very well go for your leg if you try to run away or your nose if you were reading. Whatever's closer, but really, your hands are the primary targets once it's opened and it'll settle down like a child once you've put about ten feet between you and it. Funny thing is it'll only react this way when you handle it, not that she's going to mention that. Your friend's textbook? Well. ]

When the Easter holidays are finally over and everyone is back in the castle, I would like to offer anyone who would volunteer the opportunity to take part in an experiment. As I'm sure most of you are aware, the forest is home to creatures known as Thestrals. They're creatures one can only see if they have witnessed death.

I'm working on a way to make it so that even those who haven't seen someone perish can see them. So if you have never seen anyone die, then I would like to extend and invitation the day after term starts for anyone willing.

In case anyone is worried, it should be fairly safe.

Please focus on how they remain aloft, and also on regulations that prevent accidents in flight, landing, and takeoff, as well as how the muggle policies relate to our own laws for travel. If you index your book, you will find an explanation which will prove useful in detailing the workings of modern airplanes. Do not write word for word now, or copy the chapter entirely. I would have to remove points and you do know how your beloved professor so dislikes to punish his poor little ones!

Mu.. This is a reminder that if your homework assignment is supposed to be two feet in length, writing in larger print to take up more space is not acceptable. It's not a loophole, it's stupidity that I'm no longer willing to tolerate. Next time I won't ask for them to be redone or mark you down for it, they'll be automatic zeros. On top of that your next assignment will be double the length to make up for it.
