What a pretty night. It's just perfect for stargazing. Such a pity my classes don't start for another hour.

Extra credit to students who come join me in the astronomy tower early to chart tonight's star constellations.

1 AM? You can make exceptions for some people though, right? Some of us have to be up at the asscrack of Noon, after all, to prepare for their evening classes.

It isn't my fault that I need a gratuitous amount of sleep in order to function properly, mon chére.

Let's be honest, I would still be attractive as hell even if I were on my death bed.
But eventually you'll realize that a lot of sleep is the perfect thing to help not get fed up with dealing with kids all day.

I have to agree! The stars are out in full force tonight, it's a good night for sailing.

I'll have to turn down the drinks. I've got an early class tomorrow and I wouldn't be setting a good example to the children if I turned up late and hungover!

You're still welcome to come. I'm not one to force drinks on those not interested.

[And sharp on the dot, there's a knock on her door. Wesley's got all the necessary materials he needs to plan for tomorrow's class, but it's a theory lesson and even he finds them boring to deal with.]

Evening Lalonde. Thanks for having me here. I won't stay too long though; I wouldn't want to disrupt your class.

[By the time Francis arrives Roxanne has already indulged in a glass ~~or three~~ of wine and has a telescope shoved against her eye. Tipsy star charting, what better way to spend a night?

Bonsoir, Professor Bonnefoy. [She looks toward him, a smile forming on her lips.] Is that for moi or the stars?

[He holds it out to her, bowing ostentatiously as he does so.]

Light pink, for my admiration of you, and to match those lovely eyes I find myself lost in so easily.

Oh my, have you begun without me? Ah, but I was late, it is to be expected.

Merci. [She takes the rose, her smile growing wider.] That was very thoughtful of you.

I got a little impatient I'm afraid. The sky was just so beckoning.

[He straightens, leaning in to kiss her cheek. It's a chaste greeting~!]

Ah la la...~ I would have to agree with you, ma chérie. The stars are in fine form tonight, glimmering almost as beautifully and radiantly as you.

[A quick peek around shows him where the wine and glasses are, and he makes short work of pouring himself and Roxanne generous measures before holding one out to her. Like the cultured connoisseur he is, he swishes the wine in his glass slowly, before passing the glass under his nose. His first swig is taken slowly and with clear deliberation on the flavor.]

Mmm~ You choose wisely, but that is to be expected, non?

Such a generous offer. Your students would do well to take it.

As if you'd have to bribe anyone to join you in the astronomy tower. Really, Lalonde. You're hardly giving yourself enough credit. Far be it from me to pass up the opportunity to share drinks with a lady as lovely as yourself, however. I'll be there at eleven provided you don't mind a sit in.

I wouldn't call it a bribe so much as incentive to come keep a beautiful woman company in a lonely tower.

Does it count as extra credit if we finish our charts before the class period begins?
Or am I silly for assuming you won't find other ways to occupy our time and keep us craning our necks until the crack of dawn?

It does.
If you finish your chart early you get a head-start on the essay I'm assigning at the end of class.

It is quite a lovely night. I think it's why I enjoy the countryside so much.

A shame that one in the morning is past the time I retire for the evening!

Nights like this are why I moved to the countryside in the first place.
