IC Prospective: Arithmancy Professor
Character: THE MONARCH (Venture Bros)
Mun: Sio
Plot Specific? Nooooo
So you want to learn about Arithmancy? You probably all signed up thinking that you're too stupid to take Ancient Runes, so why not try Arithmancy? You're thinking this is going to be a "bird course". That it's just math with a fancy name.
WELL YOU'RE WRONG.
This is a class is going to be just as challenging as Ancient Runes if not more so and if you're expecting anything less, drop now and never defile my classroom with your ignorance again.
However, if you are planning to stay, congratulations! By next class, I'll expect you to have read the first two chapters of your textbook. I'll also expect a ten inch essay on why you think you have what it takes to master the art of NUMERICAL MAGIC.

[He never took arithmancy; math had never been easy for him, even Muggle math so he assumed that was what Arithmancy was about.]
[Strike legible]
Listen, you littleMaybe you'd know how numbers are magic if you'd taken my class.
But it's too late for you now! Enjoy living in ignorance.

You've come to the right place. This is going to be the most challenging course you'll ever have to encounter, Pierce. The real question is: are you up for it?

I hope you know that only the truly dedicated can even dream if getting perfect scores in Arithmancy.

Do you resent that implication, Mr. Pierce?

Why do you ask? We're you thinking of writing more?
In that case, the minimum length is now twenty two inches.

Oh come on, you can't tell them that it's going to be that hard. You wanna torment them a bit, don't you? Just letting them off that easy won't get you anywhere.

Maybe you'reHOW DARE YOU!
You think I want snivelling, pathetic Ancient Runes rejects in my class? YOU'RE WRONG. If the're not prepared for the challenges Arithmancy poses, I want them out. As soon as possible.
They can go take [inkblot] Divination or something. Or music.

You did not. YOU DID NOT JUSTListen up. Music is a lot more practical and a lot harder than you're giving it credit for. Tell me, how would you use Arithmancy outside of class and school? YOU DON'T. Unless you're some weirdo wanting to teach it.
So step right off.

Why don't you tell me about all the practical ways you use music outside of school? Or in school for that matter?
But first you'll have to give me a minute to stop laughing at you.

Music's practical inside school because it teaches kids how to fine-tune their ear to the most subtle of things. It also teaches them how to read music and how to recreate patterns and beats which helps, in turn, their capability to remember other things. Meaning it helps memory as well as makes them brighter and more likely to listen closer to other things.
Outside of school music's a fine career, before I came here I was a DJ and you better believe I was making more than enough money to live comfortably. Music's a respected art in all of it's forms and that means it'll be around forever, even if it's in a different form.
Your subject's a dying art and won't be around forever.
