IC Prospective: Vashti (1st Year) (OC)
Character: Vashti Middens
Mun: Mordrid
Plot specific: N
Hi everybody! I'm Vashti Middens, and I'm really liking it here so far. The common room is a bit crowded (and it's kind of a little overwhelming!), but I expect houses don't normally bunk together, so. Anyway.
Dad said there are trips to the village for the older students? I don't know when the next one's happening, but I was hoping to make arrangements with somebody to get some blood lollipops for me when you go there. I'm willing to pay you back for them.

Sounds like it! It's crazy how class-oriented Wizard society still is.
Hmm..probably as Non-Magical Humans or something like that.

Maybe that's why Dad never took me to any magic places before my letter came. He didn't want me having to deal with jerks.
Unless there are more wizards than muggles--and if there were, I kind of doubt we'd have to keep our world a secret from them--wouldn't it more sense to just call them Normal Humans, and ourselves Magical Humans? Whoever's in charge of drawing up the categories sounds really stuck up, just assuming the default for humanity is wizard.

If that's the case your Dad is a pretty wise man.
Nah, I think the Wizarding population is smaller than the Muggle one. I don't think they would ever call Muggles normal humans because that would seem to imply wizards were abnormal. And I agree with you completely on the default for humanity thing. Especially in the cases of weres and vampires. They're still essentually human. Kinda cruel to just shove them to the side when they become afflicted you know?

Afflicted? [There are a couple ink blots from tapping her quill against the paper.] That makes it sound like a disease.
[Some more ink blots.] I guess it kind of is though, isn't it.

Well, yeah technically it is. I mean, most people aren't born werewolves or vampires. Most are made. And when bitten, the disease (for lack of a better term) pretty much overtakes a humans body.

I never really thought ofI guess I just thoughtHuh.
[The crossed out words are still fairly legible. There's a significant pause as she tries to figure out a way to describe how she's always viewed vampires, without mentioning her dad. She can't think of one, so have some more ink blots.]
