[There's a long moment of silence on Karkat's end, and a couple of inkblots from his quill seep out into the page, watered down into splotches. He's not crying, or at least that's what he'll say if he's asked. Sometimes he regretted not sticking around on Parent's Day to talk to his mother and father, but he wasn't able to handle it. Not that time, and quite possibly not this year if there was another.]

[For that moment of silence, Kankri is afraid that he's said too much. That even though he was speaking half-truths, he still came across as disingenuous. That he's said something wrong and brought up the wrong memories for his young nephew.
