I went to great lengths to ensure that my little adventure would not result in punishment from the faculty. I braved the possibility of mortal danger, I risked life and limb, and for what?
To have my face spat upon both figuratively and literally by the very centaurs I sought. It was truly humiliating. I feel like the world's biggest fool.
I need a towel.

Was my comparison too unusual? When trying not to get wet, one would wear galoshes instead of sandals. Sandals are just too small and too weak to serve the needed purpose. The same can be said regarding the towels. One was a sandal, usable in specific situations, while the other can be used in other specific situations.
Does that make sense?
