Wanker is a colloquial term for someone who masturbates.
I wouldn't take it personally. Most of us are hormonally volatile at the moment, so I think masturbation is fairly common.

Having learned English as a second language, I can say that given time, the colloquialisms will come eventually.It depends on how much time you spend around people who use them.
