Kids will be kids, but maybe you all need a change of pace. Muggle Studies isn't the sort of subject you understand without experience.

So if you could take a field trip to any sort of muggle place, what would you pick and why? Places like airports, hospitals, arcades... you know, places that might be possible. ...And you know what? Professors, you can answer that too, if you want.

You got a point there.

But if you were a student, would you really want to spend your vacation time wandering around a city with all of its cars and loud noises and music? I wouldn't expect any of them to put much effort into it if I made an actual assignment out of it, Shifu.

Plus, a field trip might be nice.

Back in my days as a student there were Muggle explosives falling from the sky. I still went out training in the valley, and I was unharmed and made all the better for it.

There is no excuse for complacency and sheer laziness. If they do not do their work, then you should ensure proper punishment and discipline.

I'm not surprised you did something crazy like that. I should be, but I'm not.

I know, Shifu. But if it's an assignment that they want to do, then they'll work harder on it.

And besides, who would visit a hospital or an airport on their own? People don't do things like that.

It is not a matter of want, but need. If they decide to take Muggle Studies then they should pursue every opportunity to learn. And the best way to do so is through experience.

If one has the passion for their subject, then one should be willing to make the trip.

But it can be a subject they're passionate about with a really boring class, or it can be a subject they're passionate about with an engaging class. I prefer the second one, myself.

Of course everybody prefers the second. But students need to learn that it is not the teachers who must conduct a class according to their likes and dislikes. I believe the English saying for it was, "Life is not a bed of roses". If we catered to their every whim, we'd have students unable to handle the difficulties of life.

As for your question, I have visited many Muggle places. My favourite is the tea house in my home village. I enjoy a good cup of Jasmine tea and a game of Chinese chess. It is also a good place for companionship whether Muggle or Wizard, if that is what you are looking for.

If we catered to their every whim, they wouldn't be doing any work at all.

A tea house sounds right up your alley, Shifu. How does Chinese chess work?

If you've visited so many places, then which one stood out the most?

I hope then that you do not coddle them too much.

It is different from your Western chess in many ways. Rules, pieces, the board. However, they are similar in that they promote sharp and strategic thinking. I highly recommend it.

The Muggle museum. It's interesting to view history from their point of view and how they have lived their lives so differently, but at the same time, as us.

Of course I won't. I know when enough is enough, Shifu.

We'll have to sit down and play a game sometime. Maybe head down to that tea house you mentioned. I'm sure that in a week's time, we'll be waiting for the end of the year.

A museum? That sounds like a good idea for a field trip! The students would get to see things, they wouldn't have to interact with Muggles, and I can even make a few assignments out of it!

Unfortunately I do not have the time for such frivolities. I must resume my training, as well as my students' back in China. The offer is appreciated but I must decline.
