Not wholly accurate.

A lot of hauntings start when a ghost is disturbed, and those ones tend to be violent.

And I dunno, I'm not really keen on having a malevolent spirit in Hogwarts. I deal with them enough already.

Much worse. A lot of malevolent spirits are harmful, not just pranksters like Peeves is.

They could kill a bunch of students if you got them angry enough, and making their remains dance could probably do just that.

Definitely not good.

Well, animal skeletons would be different. They don't seem to cling on to the spirit as much, so the chances of there being a haunting over animal bones is much slimmer.

Unless it was some sort of magical animal.
